About BFBL

What is Bytes for Better Lives?

Bytes for Better Lives (BFBL) is a student-led nonprofit based in South Florida. It bridges the digital divide through technology access, digital literacy, and community service, helping seniors and children with tech help, online-safety education, and donations.

When was Bytes for Better Lives founded?

BFBL started as a student club in 2023, became a nonprofit in 2025, and received IRS 501(c)(3) status in 2026.

Who runs Bytes for Better Lives?

BFBL is student-led and 100% volunteer-run. A Board of Directors coordinates programs, partnerships, fundraising, and chapter standards, and each chapter has its own student leadership team. It was co-founded by Aaron Pinto and Pranav Rai.

Where does Bytes for Better Lives operate?

BFBL is based in South Florida, with chapters active or launching in Plantation, Weston, Coral Springs, Parkland, Miami, Doral, and Gainesville, Florida, plus New York City, Virginia Beach, Los Angeles, Moscow, and Istanbul. It has also donated games to children in rural Haiti.

What programs does Bytes for Better Lives run?

BFBL runs four programs: Provide Access (donating devices to underserved communities), Teach Digital Literacy (teaching people of all ages to use technology safely), Support Education (school supplies and resources for underserved students), and Mobilize Community (starting student-led chapters). How can seniors get tech help from Bytes for Better Lives?

Student volunteers give patient, one-on-one help with phones, iPads, and laptops: email, video calls, photos, and accessibility settings. They serve South Florida senior communities, including monthly visits to 5 Star Premier Residences and sessions at Palomino Gardens. To ask about help for your community, contact us.

Does Bytes for Better Lives teach online safety and scam awareness?

Yes. BFBL has held digital safety workshops for seniors at the Palace at Weston and 5 Star Premier Residences, teaching them to recognize scams, avoid phishing, and protect personal information online. It also gave a digital safety and financial literacy presentation for women at Lotus House.

What does Bytes for Better Lives do for children?

BFBL donates devices and school supplies to underserved students, gives board games to children’s hospitals and homes, and runs hands-on workshops such as game development. It donated 15+ iPads to His House Children’s Home and taught the children how to use them.

How do I donate to Bytes for Better Lives?

Give online through GoFundMe (card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay), or scan the Zelle or PayPal QR code on our Donate page. BFBL is 100% volunteer-run, so gifts fund devices and digital-literacy programs for seniors and students.

Can I donate devices or board games?

Yes. You can give board games and electronics for seniors and kids. Contact us to arrange a donation, and check the Initiatives page for any active collection drives.

How can students volunteer with Bytes for Better Lives?

Join a service day or workshop, or join your local chapter. Email bytesforbetterlives@gmail.com or use our contact form with your name, location, and how you want to help.

How do I start a Bytes for Better Lives chapter at my school?

Reach out to us with your name, school or organization, city, country, proposed leadership team, and the service projects you want to start first. Applicants should be ready to identify local needs, recruit volunteers, and communicate clearly with BFBL leadership.
